Summer break is a time for kids to relax, recharge, and enjoy a well-deserved break from the school routine. However, all of that free time can sometimes lead to what is commonly referred to as the "Summer Slide" - a loss of academic skills that can occur when students are not engaged in learning activities.
Research shows that children who participate in educational activities during the summer are more likely to retain the skills they gained throughout the school year. With that in mind, we are pleased to provide families with resources to support continued learning at home in both reading and mathematics.
These summer activities are not required, but they are highly recommended as a way to help students maintain their progress and start the new school year with confidence. You can find all the information and materials for summer reading and math on the district website under the “Resources” tab. You can access them directly from this link as well: Wolf Hill Summer Resources
Our goal this year is to continue to help parents by providing resources to assist in keeping their children's minds active throughout the summer. Please note that there will not be any incentives or prizes this year—just an opportunity to support learning in a fun and low-pressure way.
